Yang Style T'ai ChiThe T'ai-Chi Ch'uan we practice was developed by Professor Cheng Man-ching. T'ai-Chi is a Chinese martial art which combines meditiation in movement, healthful exercise and self defense. The training includes practice of a 37 posture form which teaches relaxation, balance and strength. There is also a partner practice, called push hands, that builds sensitivity, timimg and internal power.Professor Cheng Man-ching was widely known in T'ai-Chi, and was regarded as one of the greatest martial artists of the twentieth century. He was also a reknowned doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, poetry, painting and calligraphy. |
